  happy new year!
this will be my last blog entry for the year (doh). the past year was...packed. i went through a lot, learned a lot.

this meme is just a rehash of last year's new year meme. i couldn't find any other quiz/meme to better sum up the past year. i've actually been itching to answer this since the middle of the year. hehe. the past year was just sooo meaningful and relevant.

*caveat: this entry subject to editing.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
appear in court, make pleadings, work in a law firm. yada yada yada.
2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i don't remember making new years' resolutions for 2006. but this year, i will make some, and they will be realistic. what those resolutions are would be in another blog entry.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
my two high school kabarkadas, nirvana and penny :)
4. Did anyone close to you die?
manang weng, our former maid for almost 10 years. she left a few months before her death. it was so sudden and unexpected. :(
5. What countries did you visit?
US(california and ohio), singapore(for the first time!)
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2006?
energy to do everything i want. i had a hard time multi-tasking the past year :P
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
june 28, 2006. yihee! (res ipsa loquitur)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
aside from finishing school/internship requirements (corny), i got over certain issues that have been bogging me down for years. now i can concentrate more on things that really matter.
9. What was your biggest failure?
there's no such thing as "failure". haha. yeah. whatever.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
nothing major, just the usual colds (which happen, uh, every morning). i think i had fever sometime this year, before i got the flu shot.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
i didn't get to buy anything techie this year. the cheap sandals (only $7. or was it $6?) i got from the banana republic outlet store in ohio. and the brown summer havaianas which i can wear outside and inside the house. and the big bag from bayo. it's perfect because i can literally dump anything in it and it won't look too bulky.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
manny pacquiao? haha. mark too. hihi. especially since he still loves me despite the fact that all my friends from high school to law school keep telling him "akala mo mabait si lianne?" (yes, they're my "friends")
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
mine at some point. hehe.
14. Where did most of your money go?
fooood!! i didn't spend much on clothes this year as i did the past years.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
see question no. 7. hehe!
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
"the world is our playground and we will always be home" by up dharma down. and "pag-agos" by the same band. although "the world is our playground.." is more memorable because it reminds me of my US trip/reunion with my relatives and of that time when mark and i watched UDD during our early dating stages. hehe.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier! definitely XD
ii. thinner or fatter? fatter :(
iii. richer or poorer? richer, i guess. i still have some left from the christmas bonus. and i promise i'm going to deposit everything in the bank.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
of course, studying; going to the gym, playing disc.
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
whining, complaining, ranting. especially through my blog :P sleeping, slacking off, eating fatty food. blogging. haha.
20. How will you be spending New Year’s?
as usual, with my extended family, here at home. i don't know if we'll have the usual games, but we will have the old school firecrackers. i'm actually feeling a bit lazy today to do anything...
21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
my sister, leiya, who's in the US, who's always updated with the latest chismis! (kahit chismis dito sa pilipinas! haha) and she's also the person i can always turn to for any advice. aaawwwwwww (psst regalo ko :P)
22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
of course! again, refer to question no. 7. haha
23. How many one-night stands?
o k a y..
24. What was your favorite TV program?
still, veronica mars!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
daisy's favorite person in the whole wide world. haha.
26. What was the best book you read?
dami eh. but i liked the "his dark materials" trilogy. although i only finished until book 2. hehe. "everything is illuminated" is nice too. and "the prophet".
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
the killers. and the local band, hilera. they only have two songs("define" and "rhyme without reason") and they're not as exposed as spongecola and hale, but their songs are catchy. paramita's ok also. and i rediscovered keane this year. i've always branded them as coldplay wannabes, but their latest songs proved me wrong.
28. What did you want and get?
see question no. 7 :D
29. What did you want and not get?
a new digicam. to lose (a lot of) weight. to get high grades the past sem. (as if my study habits were commensurate with my desired grade hehe)
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
v for vendetta. puwede rin borat. haha. little miss sunshine's cute, in an independent/artsy film kind of way.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
i'm 24 and i spent my last birthday at the firm where i had my internship. 'brought some food for the officemates. i also treated my law school barkada out to dinner at crustasia. see related blog entry.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
hmm.. a trip to the beach or to some country with mark :)
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
again, i'm guilty of not having my own style. hehe. although the usual rocker shirts/plain white shirts/rubber flip flops are still part of my wardrobe, i also followed the wide belt, leggings, stripes, long shirt trends.
34. What kept you sane?
mark, who's always more level-headed and calm than me. and writing angsty entries in my blog (which i will keep in private next time :P), talking to some of my law school friends, prayers, and of course, humor. looking at old pics and watching old videos also help. (especially those brainless college videos..)
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
hmm DMB na lang nga 'cause i watched the band live
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
none pa rin. hehe. although i made a little cheer when classes were called off due to proc. 1017. hehe joke lang.
37. Who did you miss?
my grandparents (dad's side), auntie abbe and her family, and uncle efren. they left for the states this year. gosh i think i'll be missing them most tonight.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
who else? eh di si kuya kim.. hehehe joke lang! mark of course!! yiheeeeeeeeeeeee
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
stop.being.angsty. and too cynical. again, this would merit a new blog entry altogether. maybe in my LJ friends-only section.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"And we'll all float on alright
Already we'll all float on
Aliright don't worry even if things end up a bit to heavy
we'll all float on alright" (float on by modest mouse)

eto pa isa:
"She and he
By my lover's side
Together share this smile
Each other's tears to cry
Together share this smile" (lover lay down by DMB. yiheeee ulit :D)

  spreading some holiday cheer
i know this post has nothing to do with the holidays. and i know i shouldn't be blogging at this hour. wala lang. i came home, expecting that i'd be too tired to do anything and go straight to bed, but i slept on my way home and now i'm wide awake. and so i just decided to post another set of jeepney signs, et al. 'hopefully it will give you something to think about (like, the literacy problem in this country is getting waaaay out of hand). it's hard taking some of these pics, especially since i was taking pics and driving at the same time. hehe.

"chek boy ng lohog cebu" maybe he's a CHECKER (of God-knows-what) by profession. or he breeds checks.

"sh*t ka sa eart". in his angst, he forgot to put the "H". or there isn't just enough space. mitch's theory, sa sobrang gigil daw hindi na nasabi yung "H".

"photocopy upstair". nga namaaaan, isang floor lang eh.

"chicksnician". uyy, trying to be witty. doh, dapat "checksnician".

  lomo christmas

last night was the lomomanila christmas party. i consumed one roll (plus one shot) of film, i'll be uploading the rest of the photos in my multiply account once the pldt dsl connection stabilizes. blame it on the earthquake. i was thinking of not dropping by because i was going alone and wasn't familiar with everyone yet, but at the end of the day i'm glad i did. and anyway, i needed to replace the photo i gave for the lomowall (with the wrong format. i replaced it twice because i gave the wrong format twice. stupid me. hehe. =P). i went home (albeit early) with the photo/exchange gift from mon(this is one of the rare times when i felt glad about receiving a photo frame. but of course not all photo frames come with kick ass photos), free films from F, lomo pins and the notebook i bought from ria (go check her stuff!) and tips from some of the best lomographers.

i haven't posted entries yet re. christmas and the other christmas parties. i will soon.

i know, this is long overdue. but christmas break only officially started at 12 pm today (when i submitted the SLR paper). before that, i didn't have time to write this entry and post the pics. so, here they are:

  1. the exchange gifts (no price limit, so pakapalan na ang mukha this year hehe)

  2. that sir te came, and stayed =)

  3. when the cakes arrived

  4. when nico tried alcohol. hihi

  5. when ja'pee hid behind the curtains out of shame (nakakahiya na raw yung mga pinagsasabi ng iba kay sir te hehe)

  6. the couple of the night

  7. grace's boys

  8. blockmates + alcohol = entertainment for the more sober ones

  9. roch's monologue

  pasko na!
it's been a long time since i wrote an actual post. i've been busy with school (naks, busy with school daw) and for the past two weeks, with christmas parties. yes, i study now. anyway, it's my last sem ever, and i'm out to prove that i'm not stupid. and not all that latak. haha. and we have a research paper to pass tomorrow. i just finished my part awhile ago. i'm just waiting for my groupmates to compile/edit the paper so i can print it out, have it bound by tomorrow and submit it, finally. then i can go on with my christmas vacation.

i was supposed to go to the gym this afternoon to burn off fat (i.e., accumulated calories from krispy kreme, cupcakes by sonja, foood from the christmas parties, etc.), but when i got to fitness first fairview, i found out that it was closed from 4 pm onwards for a company christmas party. darn. i guess i'll have to go tomorrow then. i swear, none of my jeans fit me perfectly anymore! (except for 2)

i have a long overdue meme to answer, from mark's blog:

Top 5 names (in no particular order):

Boys' names: i'm tempted to fill this up with my celebrity crushes' names, but that's so high school, so i'm just posting one crush's name. hehe.
1. jakob: from jakob dylan of the wallflowers. heehee.
2. kyle/kahlil. kyle, maybe not because there's a kyle character in southpark. hehe. kahlil, i saw it on tv before and i recently read kahlil gibran's the prophet.
3. lorenzo/enzo. because it sounds cute and there's no one with that name in the family yet. i also wanted miguel/bernard/raphael, but my 3 pamangkins have already taken those names.
4. sebastian/basti. i'm not really one of those girls obsessed with basti artadi when i was in high school, but i do like wolfgang and this name sounds so rocker boy.
5. malcolm. as in malcolm hall. haha. joke lang. wait, i can't think of a 5th name. hmm... gavin's nice, but it's already in mark's list and he'll think i copied it from him. hehe. brandon's ok, as in brandon boyd. or travis. basta, some other singer/band name.

Girls' names:
1. margaux. no particular reason, i just like how it's spelled.
2. violet. as in violet baudelaire from 'a series of unfortunate events' and from the movie, 'the incredibles'. i also found out that jennifer garner and ben affleck's daughter is named violet. it just sounds a bit too western. and no, i'm not going to change it to violeta. haha. (anong case nga ba yung may violeta? =P)
3. lyra (from pullman's "his dark materials") or lila/leila (pronounced as lie-lah). 'sounds like my sister's name, so it can be a bit confusing. and i think we're done with the L names in the family.
4. amelie. from the movie =)
5. sabine. from the trilogy, griffin and sabine. i read this a long time ago. honestly, i forgot the details... 'must reread it sometime. but first, i must get a copy.

daisy and i were thinking of latin legal names (certiorari, res ipsa loquitor, quo warranto), but i wouldn't want my kids to hate me forever, so forget that. hehe.

i tag everyone =P

oh cool, the new blogger has a tag/label feature.

because i'm too lazy to update with a real entry...
hehehe my dad's not going to be very happy with this one:

You Are 84% Ready for Marriage

This doesn't mean you should rush out and get married...
But if you did tie the knot, it would probably work out great!
Are You Ready for Marriage?

i think the 16% has something to do with the question about financial status.. hehe

100 Years by Five for Fighting

"Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live"

2004 was about thinking and reflecting - but isn't every year?
