random obsession #2the biggest shock i had this week (aside from realizing that it's only around a month away 'til the bar exams), is discovering the HUGE silverchair image transformation. i've been hearing their new song, "straight line" on the radio for weeks now, and i could not believe that song came from the same band that sang "tomorrow" and "freak". "straight line" just completely deviated from their old style. the song's beautiful, but i'm somehow bothered that it came from silverchair. i looked up the video in youtube, and i was so surprised to see how daniel johns looks like now. he used to look like a scrawny little kid (well, he was a scrawny little kid in the mid-90's. i think they released their first song when he was 15). this is not the silverchair that i grew up listening to. it isn't the same band that i watched when they came to manila 11 years ago (the first major concert i watched ever. gaaah i'm old). they used to look like pearl jam and some other grunge rock 90's band, with big shirts and long hair (without the plaid jackets tied around their waists though), now they're projecing a more polished (i dare not say metrosexual) image. their new album packaging reminds me of coldplay, actually. think i played their video on youtube more than 20 times today, admiring the song but mostly trying to get over the fact that they lost their grungy, loud style. wala lang.
daniel johns looks like leelee sobieski. hehe.

NOT a random obsession:
i rarely watch tv, and i just saw this rejoice tvc of kim chu earlier today. ok, she's not ugly, i actually think she looks pretty, but the tvc is just terrible. she doesn't dance well, i'm sorry, and there's also something wrong with her voice. and kering-keri?? what the...? i wonder if i can carry a normal conversation saying that?
A: o, aral ka na ba sa bar? me: oo, kering-keri.
at a job interview:
A: so, do you think you're competent to work in our firm? me: yes, kering-keri.
random obsessioni heard this song ("running up that hill" by placebo) on NU and 'fell in love with it instantly. it's a bit dark, i know, buuut i love it.
and then i found out it's a remake of a kate bush song (who is kate bush? yay i'm not that old to actually remember who she is hehe)
